Coquitos acaramelados

    ▪︎450 gr of grated coconut
    ▪︎400 gr of sugar
    ▪︎1 liter of water
    ▪︎Caramel sauce

Caramelized coquitos have been a traditional Cuban recipe for as long as anyone can remember. Depending on the color of the sugar used, they are classified into white and dark coquitos. Those in this recipe are caramelized with brown sugar.

Put the grated coconut, sugar and a little water in a saucepan over medium heat to make the coconut jam.

Cook until the coconut is tender and the jam is thick, then cool.

Make small balls with the dough. Then bathe them with caramel and place a stick in the center.
This Cuban sweet bite is simply addictive. It would be a sin not to try it on your next visit to Cuba. You can find them in the streets of certain Cuban cities, but you can also easily make them at home.

See you soon and have a great weekend.
